Aminateh Nkemngu is a committed and motivated Cameroonian Development Journalist. With more than 18 years of experience to his credit, the applicant has a good mastery of critical issues in his home country, Cameroon, as well as a strong understanding of topics that currently animate the global development debate.
For close to two decade, he has worked and interacted with both local and international development actors, NGOs, politicians, local communities and the Media. He has growing experience of giving local issues a global perspective through animating people and communities on the fringes of society to drive and sustain their own development.
The applicant has travelled extensively across Cameroon to mobilize and engage local communities in different areas of development including the Environment.
Aminateh Nkemngu has also been actively involved in Environmental Journalism at community, national and international levels beginning with Environment and Development News(Eden Radio ) and Environment and Development News(Eden Newspaper),Cameroon between 2006 and 2012.He has also contributed to Mongabay Environmental News and Internew’s Earth Journalism Network(EJN).He has also travelled extensively across Cameroon, Chad and Equatorial Guinea to produce environmental reports for International organizations based in Cameroon.
The applicant is also a Ph.D/Mass Communication Scholar at the University of Buea, Cameroon He is due to commence a Ph.D Research on how Digital and Technological Convergence can be used to enhance and improve Environmental Communication across Cameroon.
In this position therefore, he is well placed to provide the necessary leveraging of networking and partnerships across the South West Region to deliver high quality environmental stories from community levels to policy dynamics.
